Happy Birthday to our Firstborn!

Gary remembers the time of her birth being around 1:30 in the morning. Norton, Kansas, was the place. Gary was in the final week or so of practices for his first season of coaching high school football.

How beautiful the first sight of our tiny daughter, Amy Denee! She remains beautiful today. Her heart is soft and tender. Her compassion is endless. She is a faithful friend, loving spouse, and mother of three happy children.

That she survived our inexperience as parents is a great relief to us!

Amy, we celebrate each year of your life today. We thank God for all the experiences He has brought you through, the responsibilities you carry out in the present, and the future that remains ahead of you. Our love and prayers are especially with and for you today.

Happy Birthday!

Fall Retreat at Camp Beachpoint

Our son-in-law is a Resident Director in one of the men's dorms at Moody Bible Institute. The whole family recently attended the retreat for the 2009-2010 R.A.s These are pictures from that retreat. Aren't our grandchildren "lucky" to have these role models?

Friday Evening Hospitality and Art Class

While the children played with the marble rack....
Grandpa learned and practiced a new skill - welding. Andy lent his expertise and equipment to produce this rebar deer which will find its place somewhere in our yard or a flowerbed tomorrow.

Per Your Request, Josh

While thrift store shopping this past week, I stumbled on a $1 clothing sale. EVERYTHING was $1. We purchased 24 items. It was a blessing to find new and like new polo shirts (Grandpa, Brenton, Josh), 3 pairs of slacks (Grandpa), and a couple of jean jackets and shirts for me!

Just So You'll Recognize Us When We Come to Your House

Grandpa traded in his old car for this NEW old car! A 2002 Impala. We're still learning how to use all the bells and whistles! It has separate heat/cooling controls for driver & passenger, a compass, and thermometer, besides a lot of other perks. We are blessed.

Happy Kansas Birthday, Ross

Harlan Days - Saturday Fun

Before breakfast, the kids tried out their "new" old bicycles. They worked!

Lined up and waiting for the Harlan Day Parade!
We toured the "midway". Grandpa will take the kids riding tonight while Grandma works in the food tent.

We went to the Corn Crate Derby. The kids used their binoculars to watch the races close up!
