A Mom's (and Grandma's) Prayer On the First Day of School
Here we are again, Lord. Their backpacks are loaded and their faces are scrubbed and their lunch accounts are full.
And I know you'll walk with them, Lord. You always do. But a mom still has to ask.
Will You walk with them? Will You whisper to them what they need to hear, when I'm not there to whisper it?
Will You please, oh please, cover their school with the protection only You can give, and will You keep harm far away?
Will You make their minds strong and ready to learn? Will You help them understand that hard work honors the One who created them?
Will You guide their teachers, giving them patience and wisdom and creativity and more patience? Will You bless them for their efforts?
Will You love all those children there, the ones whose lunch accounts aren't full, the ones who feel alone? Will You teach my children to be kind and unselfish and to love those who are different from them?
Will You point them back toward home just as soon as you can? Lord, I give them to You today and everyday, trusting them to Your care. Amen. (from Rocks in My Dryer).
Rebecca, I have prayed a prayer very similar to this one many times, and with praying parents and grandparents I know she will be fine.
ReplyDeleteI also looked at your post on your family outing, what wonderful memories the kids and you all are making. I so miss ours!
Blessings,
Sue
Hi Rebecca, I commented on this post earlier, but think i might have deleted it . I have prayed a prayer very similar to this one many times , and I know that by having praying parents and praying grandparents she is going to be fine.
ReplyDeleteI also looked at your family get together, and it looks as though you all had a wonderful time. I so miss time spent with ours.
Loved all of your blog designs, you have done such a wonderful job with them all. I am still working on mine. I haven't posted on my other blogs in ages, just have got to get busy. Seeing yours has motivated me to be more faithful, you do such a beautiful job of expressing your thoughts .
blessings,
Sue
Oh, I so loved this prayer, Rebecca! And it is very timely for me as Jayden starts PRE-K (full days!) tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI know I have to let him go, but I'm sad.
Good Luck to your little one!
Thanks for sharing the beautiful prayer.
Love, Eileen
Hey Mom,
ReplyDeleteThanks for this prayer- believe it or not this is the first time I've been on your blog or any blog for that matter since Abigail started school- it's been a whirlwind- but God is constatnly answering these prayers. She is learning and growing and she is held in the hallow of HIS Almighty Hand- there's no safer place for her to be. We are learning as much or more as she is about trusting our faithful Father. Thanks for your continued prayers for Abigail and for us as parents. We appreciate you!
